From Sunday 26 to Tuesday 28 June CCANZ exhibited at the 2011 buildNZ | designex trade show at the ASB Showgrounds in Auckland, giving the thousands of visitors an opportunity to dicuss all things concrete with CCANZ staff, such as Ralf Kessel (Architect EU) pictured.
buildNZ and designex combines the very best from the worlds of building, construction, architecture, interior design, engineering and all the associated trades - all in one top-shelf show. For the first time, in 2011, the Registered Master Builders Federation annual conference (and educational opportunities) was co-located at buildNZ, alongside designex.
Aside from enabling CCANZ to raise awareness of the advantages of membership, along with the benefits of concrete construction, buildNZ | designex also acted as the soft launch for the upcoming CCANZ campaign Coming Home to Concrete, fronted by Kevin Milne.
Promoting the story of concrete, Coming Home to Concrete will be focused on the benefits of using concrete in residential construction - from floor slabs through to fully concrete homes.
Work on the campaign is almost complete, and revolves around a series of brief video vignettes filmed at locations ranging from a suburban family home to the larger scale rural setting of a home being built amongst the vines of a Martinborough winery.
A focus has also been placed on homes in Christchurch, with filming at locations in areas hard hit by earthquake after earthquake.
The candid views being expressed on camera are being edited into thematically arranged sequences and will be made available via the CCANZ website as ‘web clips’, and as a compilation DVD. Those themes will also be mirrored in a reader-friendly companion brochure-format publication, again cross-referencing to the CCANZ website and more in-depth technical resources.
