Residential Property RFI Following Earthquake

31 May 2011

The Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority (CERA), in conjunction with the Department of Building and Housing, has released a Request for Information (RFI) – Residential Property Development Intentions.

The purpose of the RFI is to better understand the availability of developments to meet future potential requirements during the rebuilding of Christchurch. The RFI seeks information from the residential housing development sector on:

  • What housing developments are planned (or could be brought forward) for the Christchurch residential property market within the next 5 years
  • Where these potential developments are located and what stage the developments are at
  • What issues, if any, currently constrain developments from proceeding as intended
  • What would resolve or address these issues from the point of view of developers/investors

This information will enable CERA to identify what type, location and quantity of permanent housing supply is likely to be provided within the next five years by the residential property development sector (for purchase or possibly rental) in the greater Christchurch area.

The RFI can be accessed on the CERA website.
